What are the differences between Divisions?
Great Question!
We’re happy to help explain the differences between our divisions:
Recreational Division (5U–14U)
This division is designed for players who are still learning and developing their skills. It’s a great starting point where kids learn the fundamentals of baseball, including the roles of each position. While these teams focus on development, don’t underestimate them—many of our competitive and travel players started here. Some teams may not be ready or interested in the full travel/competitive experience but still want to play and occasionally travel (within 30 minutes of home). Our goal is to provide a strong foundation in baseball, with the hope that players can eventually move into competitive play or even play for their high schools if they choose.
High School Division (15U–18U)
This division is ideal for high school teams or players who typically play weekend tournaments but also want to get in some weekday games. We offer flexibility so teams can create their own schedules and avoid conflicts with their tournaments. Plus, teams in this division can take advantage of our insurance coverage for tournaments—helping save money since many events require teams to carry their own insurance.
Competitive/Travel Division (8U–14U)
This division is for players who are ready for the next level and want to play competitive baseball. These teams are usually formed through tryouts and regularly participate in weekend tournaments. They may be willing to travel a couple of hours for games but still appreciate having weekday options.
This division is a great alternative for teams looking to play high-level baseball during the week, that is closer to home—especially for those in Kentucky who prefer not to travel to Ohio for competition. Plus, teams in this division can take advantage of our insurance coverage for tournaments—helping save money since many events require teams to carry their own insurance.
Adult Men’s Division (Ages 19–45)
This division is for men who still have a love for the game but haven’t had a chance to play since high school or college. We’ll break this division into three age groups: 19–24, 25–36, and 37–45. Games will be played on Friday or Saturday evenings at Bill Cappel Sports Complex in Latonia (Fields 4 & 5), using portable mounds and weighted bases. Each game will be 1.5 hours long, with no new inning starting after 1 hour and 15 minutes—allowing us to host multiple games per evening.
If you have any other questions about our divisions, feel free to reach out to any member of our board. We’d be happy to help!
